2017 Board of Directors

Greetings to our Camp BUCKO Volunteers:

Our 2017 Board of Directors is very excited with the new direction of Camp BUCKO and we are
looking forward to an amazing program at Cedar Ridge Camp! We are thrilled to offer the Camp BUCKO
program to the burn community and your support will assist us in continuing to meet the needs of our
young burn survivors.
Please let us introduce ourselves:

Mary Bysterveld a retired Registered Nurse from the Burn Unit at the Hospital for Sick Children brings diversity, enthusiasm, organization and leadership to our Board of Directors.  Mary’s expertise and medical background along with her 8 years of volunteering will enhance the future of Camp BUCKO.

Patrick Howlett brings a wealth of experience to Camp BUCKO. In addition to being a professional fire fighter, Patrick has been actively involved with Camp BUCKO for more than ten years.  Patrick’s integrity, dedication and leadership skills have been showcased in his commitment to Camp BUCKO.

Steve Heidinga joined the BUCKO Family approximately twenty years ago.  Steve has experience with various roles within the BUCKO family; camper, volunteer-in-training, volunteer and board member. As a burn survivor and active member of the Professional Firefighting Community, Steve understands the needs of our young burn survivors.

Pat Hayter has been a dedicated volunteer for over seven years and is continually inspired by our amazing campers.  Pat is an active member of the Professional Firefighting Community and has recently been involved with Camp BUCKO’s outreach program to Ontario’s Fire Services.

Andrew Niven has been a volunteer at Camp BUCKO for the past 7 years and is looking to further his role as a Director and Volunteer.  Andrew is a professional fire fighter and feels very privileged to be a part of giving our campers the great experience they all deserve.

Phil North has been involved with Camp BUCKO for the past 3 years and is committed    to  create a safe and exciting environment for our campers.  Phil’s passionate and funloving personality will ensure our BUCKO campers continue to have great experiences including long lasting memories.

The recovery from a burn injury is both emotionally and physically painful and without your support we would not be able to consider the needs of our young burn survivors. We at camp BUCKO rely on support from the community and your support / understanding will help us provide an exciting program for our young burn survivors.  It is our goal to continue to support our young burn survivors and minimize their challenges throughout their young lives.

Sincerely,

Your 2016 Board of Directors
