The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids) is a health-care community dedicated to improving the health of children. Their mission is to provide the best in family-centred, compassionate care, to lead in scientific and clinical advancement, and to prepare the next generation of leaders in child health.
The Butterfly, is a newsletter connecting SickKids families affected by burn injury. The butterfly, which represents transformation, is the symbol of the burns and plastics unit at SickKids.
Canadian Burn Survivors Community
The Canadian Burn Survivors Community (CBSC) is a community comprised of burn survivors, fire-fighters, burn unit staff, and advisors who have come together to offer support and education to any person or people that have been affected by burns. The CBSC chooses the host city that will hold the Canadian Burn Survivor Conference that is held every second year, in Canada.
Phoenix Society’s Parent Support – Facilitated Chat
This facilitated chat session will be held on the second Monday of each month from 9 pm-10:30 pm EST, beginning July 13th, 2015. Parent Support – Facilitated Chat provides a supportive environment where parents and families can be expressive, collaborative and also connect with others regarding emerging issues surrounding youth and teen survivors and the effects of a burn injury on the entire family. Chat sessions will be guided by experts in the field of burn care, child development and family centered care.
To participate in the live chat sessions, participants must be a member of Phoenix Connect, our online community. Membership is free and in addition to chat, members will have access to our online forum, online stories and our burn community blog. Camp BUCKO is excited to call Cedar Ridge Camp our home. The pristine 150-acre site, with 3,400 feet of shoreline is located near Bancroft, Ontario. Cedar Ridge Camp is an accredited member of the Ontario Camping Association.
