Camp BUCKO (BUrn Camp for Kids in Ontario) is a camp open to burn survivors between the ages of 7-17. The camp has grown to over 70 children attending the week long camp at Camp Kodiak in August. There is no fee to attend Camp BUCKO.
We are a registered charity providing the program through generous donations from Firefighters Associations, service groups, and other public and private organizations. A Board of volunteers from across Ontario plans for camp all year. With the donations we receive we are able to fully fund each child's stay at camp, their transportation and a camp shirt.
We will help arrange transportation for campers all across Ontario. We have also had campers from other provinces attend our camp if there was not a burn camp for them to attend in their home province.
Health providers, Firefighters, adult burn survivors, and burn support staff attend camp as Volunteer Counsellors to support the experienced Camp Kodiak staff. We also have a VIT (Volunteer-In-Training) Program for campers who wish to become Volunteer Counsellors.
If you are a burn survivor between the ages of 7 and 17, who has received 2 weeks (or more) of treatment by a Physician in order for your burn injury to heal and you would like to register for Camp BUCKO 2014, please contact us at the address, phone number or email to the right.
