BUrn Camp For Kids in Ontario

Camp BUCKO offers a variety of programs designed to support young burn survivors and their families. From our week-long residential camp and fall Family Camp to our urban BUCKO in the City event, we provide safe and nurturing environments where participants can heal, grow, and connect. Our Volunteer in Training (VIT) program and extensive volunteer training ensures that everyone involved is well-prepared and supported. Additionally, special events and appreciation days help foster a strong sense of community and belonging throughout the year.

Healing journeys for young campers

WHY Camp BUCKO

Camp BUCKO exists to empower young burn survivors by providing them with opportunities to build self-esteem, develop leadership skills, and create lasting friendships in a safe, supportive environment. Our programs are tailored to meet the unique needs of burn survivors, offering therapeutic activities and peer connections that help them feel understood and accepted. At Camp BUCKO, we believe in the power of community and the importance of providing a space where children can be themselves without feeling different or alone.

Residential Camp

Our week-long residential camp provides a safe and supportive environment for young burn survivors. Campers aged 7-17 engage in outdoor adventures, therapeutic activities, and group sessions designed to build self-esteem, leadership skills, and lasting friendships.

BUCKO in the City

Typically held on the first Saturday of March Break, BUCKO in the City offers urban families a chance to experience the camp spirit. This event includes a variety of activities and provides lunch and BUCKO t-shirts at no cost to participants.

Family Camp

Family Camp is an opportunity for families to participate in camp programs similar to those offered during the week of Camp BUCKO. Families also have the opportunity to connect and share stories with other burn survivors and their families. It is an environment that offers support, understanding, growth and fun. Plans are underway for our next Fall Family Camp weekend at Cedar Ridge Camp.

Volunteer Training

Camp BUCKO runs comprehensive training and orientation programs for our volunteers. This ensures our volunteers are well-prepared to support campers and contribute to a positive camp experience. Volunteers learn about their roles, the camp environment, and the unique needs of our campers.

Volunteer in Training (VIT) Program

For young adults aged 18-20 who have aged out of the camper program, our VIT program helps develop leadership skills and gain valuable experience. This program allows them to give back to the camp community while continuing to grow personally and professionally.
