How to Apply to be a Camp BUCKO Volunteer
To become a Camp BUCKO volunteer, an application form is available on our website. You will need to submit a recent photo, obtain a current and clean Vulnerable Sector Screening Police Check, and provide two references. Our Volunteer Coordinator will review your application and contact you for an interview. Applications are available on our website every January and the window to apply will close at the beginning of April..
Interview and Orientation Process
The interview process ensures that we select volunteers who are committed to supporting our campers. Successful applicants will attend a mandatory in-person orientation program in the spring, where you’ll learn about your role, the camp environment, and the unique needs of our campers. Orientation prepares you to contribute effectively and confidently to the camp experience.
Volunteer Roles
Cabin Counsellors
Cabin counsellors support campers throughout the week, assisting when necessary to ensure a positive camp experience. Our cabin counsellors stay with campers in their cabins, participate in activities, and provide support and encouragement while being positive role models.
Camp Specialists
Our camp specialists include roles such as nurses, a social worker, and teams for activities such as arts and crafts, fishing, photography, and more. Each specialist brings unique skills to enhance the camp experience for our campers.
Support Teams
Support teams ensure the smooth operation of camp activities. Roles include managing fluid stations, assisting with meal times, and helping with various camp logistics to ensure a safe and enjoyable environment.
